Founded in 1963 Yamachiku is producing bamboo chopsticks made by the thick Moso bamboo. The bamboo trees are cut by professional foresters, helping to preserve the local ecosystem of the Kumamoto (JAPAN) bamboo grove. Bamboo is an extremely fast growing and therefore very sustainable material. At same time, they also preserve the livelihood of people who continue to make chopsticks in the traditional way.
These bamboos are harvested and shaved one by one by hand. The characteristic of bamboo chopsticks is that they are light and flexible.
