Fall weather is here which means it's time to get hiking in the woods exploding with color! What better excuse to try out this savoury boost of protein and whole fats by Sara Kiyo Popowa of BENTO POWER.
SAVOURY GRANOLA
1/2 cup whole almonds
1 oz. buckwheat and /or sunflower seeds
3 tbsp coconut palm sugar
1/2 tsp flacky sea salt
Pinch of chilly flakes
Toast the nuts, grains and seeds in a dry skillet over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally to make sure they don’t burn.
When very fragrant and starting to tan, 4 - 6 minutes, tip the mixture to one side of the pan and scatter over the sugar, salt, and other flavourings, if using. Stir briefly until the sugar has melted. Let cool before storing in an airtight container.
