As we navigate these unprecedented times, many of us are wondering how to safely shop, order and prepare food to minimize transmission of the novel coronavirus.
If ordering food for take-out worries you, it might be a good time to start bringing your home-made food with you while on-the-go.
If you are a first timer to the ‘bring your own lunch’ concept, it may be a little daunting to think about packing a breakfast or lunch each day. The most important point is to plan ahead! With just a bit of panning, you’ll discover how easy it is to prepare a healthy lunch for you and the whole family, every day of the week!
If you are already meal planning for dinner, then all you really need to do as far as bento planning is concerned, is to make extra portions of your evening meal.
The contents of your bento lunch is not limited to Japanese food of course. Any foods such as sandwiches, salads, pasta, wraps, curry, etc. can also be included. If you prefer your food hot, put your food in a thermos, which will keep your food hot until lunch. That way you don’t even have to use the communal microwave!
Once the items for your bento have been decided, pack them neatly and tightly into your bento box container. Note, the tighter the food items are packed into your bento, food will stay neatly in place - Easy!
When possible, disinfect your table and or counter before and after you eat. It's also best not to share utensils or cups with your fellow diners.
DON’T FORGET TO WASH YOUR HANDS
You should always wash your hands before you eat, but it’s especially important now. Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.
